My primary clinical interests include treating orthopedic, sport and neurological populations. As a runner myself, I have an interest in helping runners gain full body strength and power, and optimize their training for rehab and injury prevention.
As an LSVT BIG certified clinician, I enjoy helping patients with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions improve their balance, posture, gait pattern, and their movement quality while performing meaningful daily tasks.
What do you enjoy about Professional Rehab Associates?
I love that at PRA we have a large, spacious gym facility with equipment that allows our patients to take their strengthening routine to a higher level than just resistance bands or cuff weights. Our functional training space allows for practicing sports, plyometrics, and agility training. For our neurological population, we have access to an adult adaptive tryke, gait trainers, and standers which allow these patients to advance in their treatment with functional strengthening and mobility. I really appreciate the resources to which we have access in order to help our patients make better progress and achieve their desired rehab outcomes. Additionally, I feel fortunate that I get to work alongside such excellent physical therapists.
Do you have further clinical plans for growth for you or the business?
My goal is to continue building my expertise as a running rehab specialist.
What experience do you have? (i.e., years, training, focus, certification)
I have been a practicing clinician for 8+ years since graduating from the Duke University Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2015. I have been with PRA since March 2017. I have been an LSVT BIG certified clinician since 2015. I have been a clinical instructor for doctoral student interns since 2018.
What are your hobbies and outside interests?
My husband Adam and I live in Blacksburg with our sweet dog Ellie. Adam and I are Virginia Tech Hokies so in the fall we enjoy going to the home football games. On weekends we enjoy hanging out with friends, going to concerts, or relaxing at home reading a good book. I also love running and participating in local 5k and 10k races.
